Air travelers in Italy are facing potential disruptions on Tuesday, November 12, as air traffic controllers and baggage handlers stage strikes at several key airports across the country.

From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., air traffic control staff at the ENAV agency will walk off the job, impacting airports in Naples, Pescara, Perugia, and Lampedusa. This strike is expected to cause delays and cancelations, particularly for flights to and from these regions.

ITA Airways has already confirmed the cancelation of six domestic flights, including key routes between Rome, Milan, and Naples, due to the strike.

Additionally, baggage handlers at major airports including Rome Fiumicino, Bologna, and Catania will strike during the same hours, likely causing delays with check-in and baggage handling services. Passengers should prepare for longer wait times as the strike could affect airport operations throughout the affected locations.

Travelers are advised to consult Italy’s civil aviation authority, ENAC, for updates on the strikes and to find out when flights are legally guaranteed during these disruptions. The strikes are part of a larger wave of industrial action affecting air travel, as well as trains and local public transportation, in Italy this month.

For more details on public transport disruptions, the Italian Ministry of Transport’s website offers real-time strike updates and guidance.
