Interviews: Roberto Di Lenarda, Rector of the University of Trieste; Massimo Paniccia, President of the CRTrieste Foundation
The University of Trieste and the CRTrieste Foundation presented the progress of restoration work at Villa Sevastopulo on Tuesday morning, highlighting a key phase in the rehabilitation of one of the city’s historic residences.
Roberto Di Lenarda, Rector of the University of Trieste, and Massimo Paniccia, President of the CRTrieste Foundation, attended the presentation. The project, which focuses on preserving the villa’s original early 20th-century features while making it suitable for future academic and cultural activities, reflects a broader commitment to the conservation of Trieste’s architectural heritage.
Villa Sevastopulo, located in a historically significant area of the city on the University of Trieste’s campus, has long been considered a symbol of Trieste’s early modernist period. The restoration includes structural reinforcements, conservation of interior details, and modernization of infrastructure, carried out with sensitivity to the building’s historic character.
The work is expected to be completed by April 2026.
