In an effort to promote civic awareness and safety among young residents, the Municipality of Trieste announced a new summer initiative this morning that will bring members of the city’s Civil Protection Group into municipal recreational centers.
The program was presented at a press conference held in the historic Ricreatorio Padovan, one of the city’s long-standing community hubs. Over the coming months, Civil Protection volunteers and staff will visit Trieste’s summer recreational centers—known locally as Ricreatori—to engage with children and adolescents through educational activities focused on emergency preparedness, safety protocols, and community responsibility.
“This initiative underscores the importance of early education in civil responsibility,” said town’s councilor for education, De Blasio. “Our goal is to give young people the tools they need to understand the role of Civil Protection in our community and to inspire a culture of safety and solidarity.”
The program, which is set to run throughout the summer, includes hands-on demonstrations, interactive workshops, and storytelling designed to make complex concepts accessible and engaging for children. Organizers hope that the initiative will strengthen the connection between municipal institutions and the younger generation, while also highlighting the vital work carried out by local Civil Protection volunteers.
City officials expressed confidence that the program will serve as a model for future collaborations between public services and educational institutions.
