Ozone concentrations in Trieste are expected to remain above the target threshold until at least Friday, Aug. 7, according to the latest forecast from the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia (ARPA FVG).

The agency said current weather conditions are expected to remain stable over the coming days, preventing a significant reduction in ground-level ozone concentrations. As a result, the target value of 120 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³)is forecast to continue being exceeded through at least Friday.

In response, the Municipality of Trieste has reiterated recommendations contained in its municipal air quality action plan, urging residents to take precautions to reduce exposure to ozone. The advisory is particularly aimed at vulnerable groups, including older adults, children and people with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.

Health guidance issued by the local health authority recommends limiting outdoor activities during the warmest hours of the day when ozone levels tend to peak.
