Interview: Tiziana Cimolino from the Bioest association
Bioest, Trieste’s longstanding fair dedicated to organic products, sustainability and environmental awareness, returns to San Giovanni Park on June 6 and 7, bringing together more than 100 exhibitors, cultural organizations and volunteer groups for a weekend of activities focused on ecological living.
Organized by the Bioest Association in collaboration with the City of Trieste, the free event will feature organic foods, natural cosmetics, wellness products and fair-trade goods, alongside workshops, lectures and family-friendly activities.
New additions this year include vegan and macrobiotic cooking demonstrations, a natural fashion show and a self-production festival promoting circular economy practices through workshops on fermentation, sewing, beekeeping and floral design.
Visitors will also be able to participate in guided nature walks, visit the park’s apiaries and explore the historical legacy of the former psychiatric hospital through tours inspired by the work of Franco Basaglia.
The program includes theater performances, live music, book presentations, yoga sessions and activities for children, reinforcing Bioest’s role as a community gathering that combines environmental awareness with culture and education.
Admission is free, and events will take place throughout the weekend from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the park’s green spaces and conference areas.
