The stage, traditionally a celebratory conclusion to Italy’s premier cycling race, ended with a fast finish through the streets of the capital. Milan, one of Italy’s leading sprinters, capitalized on the opportunity to claim the stage win in front of large crowds gathered along the route.

While Milan took the honors on the day, the overall victory belonged to Jonas Vingegaard, who secured the Giro d’Italia title and finished the three-week race in the coveted pink jersey awarded to the general classification leader.

The final stage brought the curtain down on another edition of the Giro, which traversed Italy from north to south and featured mountain climbs like the of Piancavallo on Saturday, time trials and sprint finishes before concluding in Rome.
