Interview: Fabio Scoccimarro, FVG councilor for environment

Two of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s leading regional organizations, Informest and FVG Energia, signed a framework cooperation agreement on Tuesday aimed at strengthening efforts around sustainability, energy efficiency, and access to European funding.

The agreement, signed by Informest president Davide Lepori and FVG Energia president Franco Baritussio, was presented in Trieste with the support of regional officials, including Fabio Scoccimarro, councillor for environment, energy and sustainable development, and Barbara Zilli, councillor for finance.

Scoccimarro described the partnership as a “strategic choice” by the regional administration to ensure that public agencies work in concert to advance green growth. He said the goal is not only to improve quality of life locally, but also to position Friuli Venezia Giulia as a leader in ecological innovation within the Adriatic and Central European context, in line with — and in some cases anticipating — the European Green Deal.

The collaboration seeks to combine Informest’s long-standing expertise in cross-border European programming with FVG Energia’s mission of supporting the region’s energy transition. According to regional officials, this integration is expected to maximize opportunities for financing from European funds while providing direct technical assistance to municipalities and businesses. Areas of focus include energy efficiency, community energy projects, building renovation, and circular economy initiatives.

Lepori emphasized that Informest’s knowledge of European programs can be translated into concrete actions that bring tangible benefits to local communities. Baritussio added that with the energy sector evolving rapidly, the partnership will make it possible to deliver more effective technical support and consultancy to regional stakeholders, ensuring that the transition is a development opportunity accessible to every town and business in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
