The University of Trieste will host its annual Homecoming event on December 11, 2024, at the Ex Ospedale Militare (via Fabio Severo 40, Trieste), starting at 6:00 PM. The event will bring together alumni, students, and graduates to celebrate professional achievements and foster networking among different generations of professionals.

Homecoming is organized by the University’s Career Service and has become a significant occasion to connect graduates with current students. This year’s edition will feature five distinguished alumni who have reached professional success in various fields, including international diplomacy, education, law, journalism, and technology. Among the speakers are:

  • Corrado Čok, Visiting Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations and Programme Manager for AVSI Foundation in Nairobi (Kenya);
  • Chiara Corsato, Mathematics and Science teacher at the “Divisione Julia” Secondary School in Trieste and PhD graduate in Environmental and Industrial Fluid Mechanics;
  • Stefano Felician Beccari, Legal & Policy Advisor at the European Parliament in Brussels;
  • Marco Girardo, Director of Avvenire, a prominent daily newspaper in Milan;
  • Eleonora Presani, Senior Program Manager for Generative AI at Meta in New York.

The evening will be introduced by University Rector Roberto Di Lenarda and moderated by Micol Brusaferro, professional journalist and UniTS alumna. The event will conclude with a networking session where alumni and students can interact in an informal setting.

Additionally, this year’s Homecoming aligns with the Mentors4UniTS program, which pairs selected students with professional mentors who guide them in career development. The program’s 2024 cohort of 26 students and 21 mentors will also be present, marking a milestone in the mentorship initiative, which focuses on preparing students for their professional futures.

Homecoming is also the 100th event in the University of Trieste’s centennial celebrations, a year-long series of initiatives that have highlighted the institution’s impact on science, culture, and its local and international community. This year’s celebrations reached their climax with the conferral of honorary degrees to Italian President Sergio Mattarella and former Slovenian President Borut Pahor on April 12.

The event underscores the University’s ongoing commitment to fostering professional success and global connections among its alumni.
