The charming coastal town of Muggia is set to host an enchanting summer music series, “Summer Bands in the Oak Grove of the Muggia Vecchia Park,” featuring three distinct concerts from July 27 to August 11. The series is organized by the “Città di Muggia” Wind Orchestra, with support from the Municipality of Muggia, ANBIMA regional, the “Amici di Muggia Vecchia” Association, and the Parish of the Sanctuary.

This open-air concert series will be held in the picturesque park adjacent to the Church of S. Maria Assunta, promising a memorable experience for both the local audience and visiting tourists. All performances will commence at 8:30 PM.

The series opens on Saturday, July 27, with the Philharmonic of Pordenone, a venerable institution with a storied history dating back to 1873. Under the direction of Maestro Didier Ortolan, the ensemble will present a program of captivating and evocative pieces from the classic band repertoire. Known for its rich legacy, the Philharmonic of Pordenone is celebrated as one of the oldest musical organizations in the region, with a roster of about thirty musicians and a thriving music school.

On Sunday, July 28, the spotlight shifts to the “Donatori di Sangue” Band of Villesse. This unique ensemble, the only one in Italy to hold the “Donatori di Sangue” title, will mark its 50th anniversary with a performance in Muggia. Founded in 1974 by former members of the Municipal Band and blood donors, the band has a tradition of blending experienced leadership with young talent. Andrea Bonaldo, a promising young trumpeter from Villesse, will lead the band in a celebration of its five decades of musical excellence.

The series will conclude on Sunday, August 11, with the “Città di Muggia” Wind Orchestra, the youngest of the three featured bands, established in 2004. This performance will highlight the orchestra’s most popular and impactful pieces, conducted by the promising young director Giacomo Sfetez. As a relatively new addition to the local music scene, the “Città di Muggia” Wind Orchestra is dedicated to fostering musical talent and upholding the region’s rich tradition of wind music.

“The Muggia Vecchia Park offers a truly evocative backdrop for these performances,” said the President of the “Città di Muggia” Wind Orchestra. “We are thrilled to present three exceptional regional bands in such a unique setting, offering evenings of delightful music and enthusiasm.”
