Families in Friuli Venezia Giulia will be able to apply from Thursday for more than €12 million in regional assistance aimed at reducing the cost of education during the 2026-27 school year.

Applications will open at 10 a.m. on Oct. 8 and close at 4 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2026. They must be submitted exclusively online through the platform of Ardis, the regional agency for the right to education.

The program covers three forms of assistance: Dote Scuola, grants for students attending private schools recognized by the Italian education system, and support for accommodation costs for secondary-school students living in boarding facilities.

“Investing in the right to education means investing in the future of young people,” Alessia Rosolen, the regional education councilor, said in announcing the program. She said the measures were intended to ensure that family finances did not become an obstacle to education.

Last school year, the region awarded assistance to more than 30,000 beneficiaries, distributing a total of €10.7 million. For 2026-27, the regional government has allocated more than €12 million and said the amount could be increased if demand exceeds available funding.

Dote Scuola

The Dote Scuola program provides a fixed contribution toward school-related expenses for families residing in Friuli Venezia Giulia whose children attend public or recognized private lower or upper secondary schools during the 2026-27 school year.

The grants are:

  • €250 for students in lower secondary school and students in the first two years of upper secondary school.
  • €400 for students in the third, fourth or fifth year of upper secondary school.

Grants for private schools

A separate program supports families whose children attend recognized private primary or secondary schools.

The assistance can also be requested for students residing in Friuli Venezia Giulia who attend compulsory or secondary education schools abroad, provided the school awards a legally recognized qualification.

Maximum grants are:

  • €1,420 for primary school;
  • €2,000 for lower secondary school;
  • €2,145 for upper secondary school.

Boarding accommodation

The third measure supports families with students attending a public or recognized private upper secondary school within the regional education system who live in a boarding facility.

The fixed contribution is €800.

Eligibility and applications

For all three programs, the standard income requirement is an ISEE of no more than €35,000, the Italian indicator used to assess a household’s economic situation.

Exceptions are available in certain circumstances, including for parents holding a certificate of widowhood, mothers with dependent minor children who are participating in protection and support programs to leave situations of violence, and applications concerning students with certified disabilities.

Applicants must access the online system using SPID, the Regional Services Card (CRS), the National Services Card (CNS) or an electronic identity card (CIE).

Information, application instructions and access to the online platform are available through Ardis. Families seeking assistance with applications can contact dirittostudioscolastico@ardis.fvg.it or call 0432 245750 or 040 3595240.

Telephone assistance is available Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The application window runs from Oct. 8 through Nov. 19, 2026.
