With the 58th Barcolana just days away, Edil Group is preparing to take to the water with two very different yachts — and to the city with a new space designed to connect business, innovation and the community.
InTrieste joined the Trieste-based real estate developer and general contractor aboard Manticore, the company’s 62-foot racing yacht, as preparations continued for Sunday’s race.
The 58th edition of the Barcolana will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 between Barcola and Miramare, with the fleet covering 13 nautical miles. More than 1,500 boats have already registered for one of the world’s largest sailing races.
For Edil Group, this will be its second Barcolana. The company is returning as a Gold Sponsor through BeBuilt, a project it describes as a platform for businesses and institutions to meet, exchange ideas and discuss the future.
On the water, the focus will be on performance.
The Manticore, a 62-foot sport boat built for speed, will be helmed by Gabriele Bruni, with crew members who have previous America’s Cup experience. Alongside it will be the Grillo Parlante, a 100-foot luxury yacht making its Barcolana debut.
But Edil Group’s presence at the regatta extends beyond the racecourse.
At the Villaggio Barcolana, the company has opened Casa Edil Group, a modular structure built in five weeks. The space includes the Zanutta Innovation Hub, designed for talks and networking, while its upper floor will host a DJ set.
The programme is intended to bring together companies, institutions and local organisations while highlighting new approaches to construction and development.
For Elisa Settimo, Edil Group’s head of corporate social responsibility, the Barcolana project also reflects a broader view of the company’s role in the community.
That includes its work with Terra del Sorriso, an association focused on creating employment opportunities and promoting social inclusion for people with disabilities.
As the city prepares for another weekend dominated by sailing, Edil Group is using the Barcolana as both a sporting challenge and a meeting point — bringing together competition on the water, business on land and a wider commitment to the community.
