Pallacanestro Trieste announced Thursday that a new ownership group, Newport Holdings LLC, has acquired the controlling interest in Cotogna Sports Group (CSG), the company that has owned the Italian basketball club since 2023.

As part of the restructuring, Cotogna Sports Group’s board of directors has designated Connor Barwin, currently a minority shareholder and board member, as the club’s next president.
Barwin, who has been involved with the organization since Cotogna Sports Group acquired Pallacanestro Trieste three years ago, is expected to provide continuity as the club enters its next phase. The organization said his familiarity with Italian basketball, as well as the club’s operations and culture, positioned him to assume the role immediately.
The club also confirmed that General Manager Michael Arcieri will continue to oversee day-to-day operations, including both basketball and business activities.
In a statement, Pallacanestro Trieste described the ownership transition as the beginning of a new chapter while emphasizing continuity in its leadership structure. Club officials said they looked forward to working with Newport Holdings LLC as the organization pursues its long-term sporting and business objectives.
