The Museum of Fashion and Applied Arts in Gorizia has opened two new exhibition rooms dedicated to Italian designer Roberto Capucci, completing an exhibition itinerary that began in April.

Located in the historic Borgo Castello complex, the museum is part of the Provincial Museums of Gorizia, managed by the Regional Agency for Cultural Heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia (ERPAC FVG).

The new galleries feature garments and preparatory drawings from the Roberto Capucci Foundation, based at Villa Manin in Passariano since 2017. The works, created between the late 1960s and early 1990s, trace the designer’s exploration of art, nature, architecture and color.

Among the highlights is a wedding dress inspired by The Continence of Scipio, a painting by the 18th-century Venetian artist Giambattista Tiepolo. The design translates the painting’s colors and composition into fabric, volume and movement.

Other works draw on the forms of butterflies, a recurring source of inspiration for Capucci, as well as classical architecture. Two sculptural dresses reinterpret Doric and Corinthian columns, demonstrating how the designer transformed architectural forms into textile structures. Four additional garments explore color as a defining element of his work, while two creations evoke the movement and energy of fire.

The exhibition was organized by Enrico Minio Capucci, director of the Roberto Capucci Foundation, with an exhibition design by architect Chiara Lamonarca and visual identity by Studio Polo 1116.

The museum will offer free guided tours as part of Apritimoda 2026 on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25. Tours are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and are included in the museum’s admission ticket.

The museum is located at Borgo Castello 13 and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission costs €5, with a reduced ticket of €3. More information is available at museomoda.regione.fvg.it.
