As spring returns to the city, evenings at Castello di San Giusto are set to resume their seasonal rhythm with the reopening of Bar Bastione on April 24.
Perched on the castle’s Bastione Rotondo, the outdoor terrace offers wide views over Trieste’s rooftops and the Adriatic Sea, and has become a popular spot for sunset aperitivos in a historic setting.
The bar is operated by Midnight Srl, a local hospitality group behind venues including Cemût and Barakin San Giusto. It will serve regional wines, craft beers, cocktails and light seasonal food throughout the spring and summer.
Alongside its food and drink service, the venue will again host a program of free cultural events developed with the Castle Museum. Central to the program is “L’Ora di Storia” (“The Hour of History”), a series of guided sunset walks along the castle’s walls and bastions.
The tours, organized with CoopCulture, explore different periods of Trieste’s history, including Roman and medieval eras, the Habsburg period of the 18th and 19th centuries, and the 20th century.
Bar Bastione will be open Wednesday through Sunday, with hours extending from early evening until midnight on weekdays and Sundays, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free, subject to capacity.
