Public transport service will be partially rerouted in Opicina on Saturday, Feb. 21, as several streets close to traffic for a local Carnival parade, according to Trieste Trasporti.

From noon to 7 p.m., vehicle access will be suspended along Via di Prosecco between Strada per Vienna and Via dei Fiordalisi; along a stretch of Via Nazionale between Via Carsia and the roundabout — though buses will still be able to reach Piazzale Monte Re — and along Strada per Vienna from the roundabout to Via di Monrupino. The restrictions are tied to the annual “Kraški Pust” procession in Opicina.

As a result, several bus routes will follow temporary detours:

Line 4 will turn around at Piazzale Monte Re before continuing toward Villa Carsia via Quadrivio and Campo Romano. In the opposite direction, buses will travel from Villa Carsia along the provincial road to Quadrivio and Piazzale Monte Re before resuming their regular route.

Line 39/ will divert via the provincial road at the Anas junction toward Quadrivio, Villa Carsia and Via Carsia before rejoining its normal path. The return route toward Cattinara will follow a similar detour in reverse.

Line 42 toward Opicina will run through Villa Carsia, Via dei Fiordalisi and the provincial road to Piazzale Monte Re; trips toward Piazza Oberdan will follow an alternate route through Villa Carsia and the Sp1 before returning to the standard alignment.

Line 51 will also divert via the provincial road and Quadrivio between Via di Basovizza and Villa Carsia in both directions.

Line 64 will be limited to Piazzale Monte Re, where buses will turn around, with a temporary terminus set on Via Nazionale.

All regular stops along the temporary routes will remain in service, and two additional stops will be installed along the provincial road near a fuel station. Transit officials said further adjustments to Line 42 may be made in real time as the parade moves through the area.
