Piazza Ponterosso will come alive on Saturday, September 6, with the FVG Young Festival, a daylong celebration of youth-led cultural and research initiatives in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The event, free and open to the public, was presented Friday morning at Trieste’s City Hall.

“The FVG Young Festival represents an important opportunity to showcase the creativity and talent of the younger generations,” said Giorgio Rossi, the city’s Councillor for Culture and Tourism, during the press conference. He emphasized the strong collaboration between the municipality, the regional government, and tourism authorities, which he said has helped attract visitors to Trieste and bolster the city’s cultural programming.

Also in attendance were Sergio Emidio Bini, the region’s Councillor for Productive Activities and Tourism, regional councilor Michele Lobianco, and representatives of the youth association Lam–Lista Autonomamente Aps.

The festival aims to highlight university and youth projects in research and culture. Among the initiatives featured are the Astreo satellite research team from the University of Trieste and the E-Racing Team from the University of Udine. Organizers promise an interactive program designed to engage the public while offering visibility to innovative projects from across the region.

The morning will open at 9 a.m. with exhibitions and stands, which will run through 5 p.m. The evening program begins at 8 p.m. with performances from regional artists competing in the FVG Young Contest, which offers winners the chance to record in a professional studio and gain radio play.

Headlining the festival will be the Shablo Street Jazz Tour 2025, followed by performances from the emerging artist Jeson. The event will close with a DJ set by Broccoletti Pop, running until midnight.

The festival is organized by Platinum and Azalea in collaboration with the City of Trieste, Lam–Lista Autonomamente Aps, and supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Banca di Credito Cooperativo Venezia Giulia, Confcommercio, and the Convention Visitors Bureau Trieste.
