As the ShorTS International Film Festival reaches its midpoint, Wednesday’s programming offers a blend of technological innovation and fresh, young perspectives on cinema.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m., the Sala Xenia will host the immersive section of the festival, ShorTS Immersive. Until 8:00 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to explore 11 virtual reality works using personalized headsets. The lineup includes three projects in six degrees of freedom (6DoF) and eight in Cinematic VR, allowing viewers to experience stories in a fully navigable 360° spatial and temporal environment. Reservations are available through the festival’s official website, maremetraggio.com.

At 5:00 p.m., the focus shifts to the Teatro Miela, where the festival presents the Teens program from its Shorter Kids’n’Teens section. This selection features 10 short films curated by middle school students aged 11 to 15 from Trieste and Gorizia. The young jurors participated in Cinema in corsivo, a yearlong film literacy initiative aimed at introducing students to cinematic language and critique.

The day concludes at 9:15 p.m. in the Giardino Pubblico with outdoor screenings of the fourth block of short films from the Maremetraggio section, continuing the festival’s mission of showcasing the best short-form cinema from around the world.

Now in its 26th edition, the ShorTS International Film Festival continues to highlight both cutting-edge storytelling techniques and emerging voices in contemporary film making.
