Philippe Donnet, Group CEO of Generali, was awarded an honorary Master of Business Administration (MBA Honoris Causa) today by the MIB Trieste School of Management. The ceremony took place at Palazzo Ferdinandeo, the institution’s historic headquarters.

The honorary degree recognizes Donnet as “an exemplary model for students, the academic community, and the managerial world,” according to the official citation.

The award also marks the revival of a longstanding tradition at MIB, which began in 1993 with the conferment of an honorary MBA to Gianfranco Viezzoli, then president of Enel. Over the years, recipients have included leading figures in Italian industry and finance, such as Mario Draghi, Leonardo del Vecchio, and Alessandro Profumo. The most recent awards before this year were given in 2018 and 2019.

“This honor celebrates a leading figure in the global insurance and financial sector,” said Vladimir Nanut, founder and CEO of MIB Trieste School of Management. “Our honorary MBAs are intended to provide students with real-life role models.”
