As the summer season approaches, the Municipality is working to repair the extensive damage inflicted upon the Barcola area by last fall’s storms.
The Municipality’s proactive approach, including an initial investment of nearly $850,000, has facilitated the early stages of the project before receiving the $6.2 million from the Region for storm damage repair.
Ongoing efforts overseen by territorial planning assessor Michele Babuder are focused on various aspects of the Barcola region. A $150,000 initiative is underway to address uprooted porphyry surfaces and damaged wall sections near the Pane Quotidiano. Following this phase, an additional $100,000 will be allocated for further porphyry and wall repairs.
“A comprehensive restoration project has commenced, covering the entire ten-block stretch of the iconic Topolini promenade, and the playgrounds should be finished by the end of the month”, Babuder told us.
Regional funding distribution includes $1.2 million for the stretch from the Gommone Club to Molo 0, $1.3 million for the section spanning from 11 Settembre Square to the junction, $500,000 designated for the pine forest, and $200,000 allocated for the junction itself. A significant portion of $3 million has been designated for the restoration efforts in the Topolini and Cedas areas.
“I expect the works to be finished at the end of June, or the first days of July,” added Babuder.
