Friuli Venezia Giulia Gov. Massimiliano Fedriga said the center-right would take time to identify its candidate for Trieste’s next mayoral election, emphasizing the need to present a proposal that could ensure continuity with the current city administration.

“We will discuss the options and see what the best proposal for the city is,” Fedriga said, following the center-left’s decision on its candidate. He added that several months remained to identify a contender capable of continuing the work of Mayor Roberto Dipiazza’s administration.

Fedriga also addressed questions about his own political future, saying he hoped to complete his current term, which runs until 2028.

“I have a mandate until 2028, and I would like to see it through to the end. After that, we will see,” he said.
