Visitors to Trieste’s civic museums will be able to enter several of the city’s cultural institutions free of charge on Sunday, July 5, as part of the monthly #DomenicalMuseo initiative promoted by Italy’s Ministry of Culture.
The program, held on the first Sunday of every month, provides complimentary admission to participating museums that normally charge an entrance fee. In Trieste, those include the Museo Revoltella, the Castello di San Giusto, the Museo Teatrale Carlo Schmidl, the Museo della Guerra per la Pace Diego de Henriquez and the Museo di Storia Naturale.
Several other civic museums in Trieste offer free admission throughout the year, including the Museo del Mare, the Museo d’Arte Orientale, the Museo Sartorio, the Museo d’Antichità J.J. Winckelmann, the Risiera di San Sabba, the Centro di Documentazione della Foiba di Basovizza, the Museo del Risorgimento e Sacrario Oberdan and LETS – Letteratura Trieste e Museo Petrarchesco Piccolomineo. Temporary exhibitions hosted at Magazzino 26 are also free to visit, while special exhibitions not included in a museum’s standard admission ticket are excluded from the initiative.
Further information on museum collections and opening hours is available on the individual museum websites and through Trieste Cultura.
