Interviews: Roberto Dipiazza, Mayor of Trieste; Carabinieri Valery Gastaldelli and Andrea Silvestri
The Municipality of Trieste awarded the Bronze Seal to Carabinieri officers Valery Gastaldelli and Andrea Silvestri, stationed at the Portonuovo post, for saving the life of a young woman on the evening of 3 April.
The two officers intervened at a fourth-floor apartment where the young woman was standing on the balcony, intending to jump. The Carabinieri reported that they had previously encountered the woman under similar circumstances. The intervention of officers Gastaldelli and Silvestri prevented the situation from ending in tragedy.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Roberto Dipiazza, Mayor of Trieste, who thanked the two officers for the professionalism, empathy, and dedication they demonstrated. He also extended his recognition to all their colleagues for the service they provide to the community every day.
Also present were the Provincial Commander of Trieste, Colonel Gianluca Migliozzi, the Commander of the Trieste–Via Hermet Company, Major Ottavia Mossenta, and the Commander of the Portonuovo Carabinieri post, Warrant Officer Pietro Cappiello.
The Bronze Seal of the Municipality of Trieste is one of the civic honours conferred by the municipal administration on individuals or institutions that have distinguished themselves through actions of public significance.
