The seaside town of Muggia, near Trieste, will once again embrace its role as a regional center of Baroque music and culture with the fourth edition of Festa Barocca, a four-day music festival running from June 26 to 29.

Organized by the Serenade Ensemble Music Association, the festival is supported by the Municipality of Muggia and presented in collaboration with the Parish of Saints John and Paul and the Basilica of Muggia Vecchia. The event also benefits from a partnership with the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste—specifically its department of early music and recorder studies—and is held under the patronage of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia (A.N.V.G.D.), Trieste branch.
Conceived as a celebration of the musical and cultural traditions of the 17th and 18th centuries, Festa Barocca coincides with Muggia’s annual patron saint festivities. The event includes a full program of masterclasses, lectures, and open-air performances, and is designed to highlight the town’s historical and artistic ties to the Baroque period.
The festival aims to position Muggia as a cultural hub for early music and as a space where local traditions rooted in the Baroque era can be both preserved and rediscovered. The Serenade Ensemble, known for its focus on historically informed performance, views the initiative as part of a broader effort to foster appreciation for early music among contemporary audiences.
This year’s edition will again blend educational initiatives with public entertainment, inviting both experts and the general public to engage with the rich heritage of Baroque music in an immersive and accessible setting.
