A dedicated Safety Village has opened in Piazza della Borsa as part of the 58th Barcolana, bringing together police, emergency services, public agencies and organizations involved in safety at sea, on the road and in everyday life.`

The initiative, being held for the second consecutive year, offers demonstrations, information sessions, educational activities for families and interactive experiences designed to help visitors better understand the work of those responsible for public safety.

The village also includes an Automobile Club d’Italia stand featuring 4SAfety FVG, a road-safety initiative supported and financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government. The program focuses on prevention and on encouraging safer behavior among drivers.

Pierpaolo Roberti, the regional councilor for security, said the Barcolana provided an opportunity to reach a large audience with safety messages.

“Barcolana is certainly the best place to address these issues,” Roberti said, describing the regatta not only as a major sporting event but also as a platform for public education.

The road-safety program emphasizes the role of education alongside enforcement. While police carry out traffic controls and issue penalties for violations, officials said that encouraging responsible behavior remains an important part of reducing accidents.

Visitors to the Safety Village can meet representatives of organizations involved in safety and take part in activities intended to demonstrate how prevention and emergency response work both on land and at sea.

`The initiative uses the large crowds drawn to Trieste by the Barcolana to promote a broader message: safety depends not only on enforcement and emergency services, but also on individual behavior and awareness.
