Interview: Elisa Lodi, the city’s councilor for property and sports, and Everest Bertoli, councilor for financial policies
The City of Trieste has opened a public information stand in Piazza Unità d’Italia as part of the Barcolana village, offering information on municipal services and three areas of focus: sports, public finances and the European Union.
The stand was inaugurated by Elisa Lodi, the city’s councilor for property and sports, and Everest Bertoli, councilor for financial policies. It will host meetings, press conferences and public events during the Barcolana period.
Lodi said the city would highlight its investment in sports facilities, including more than 120 municipal sites used by sports clubs and residents. Events at the stand will also address women’s and inclusive sports.
Bertoli said the city would present information on its finances, including what he described as a reduction in municipal debt from €140 million in 2016 to €20 million in 2025. He also cited annual spending of nearly €500 million on social services and territorial policies.
The third focus is Europe Direct Trieste, which provides information on European Union policies, opportunities and initiatives and aims to encourage public participation in discussions about Europe.
The stand is part of the city’s broader presence at the Barcolana and will remain open through the regatta period, hosting events involving several municipal departments.
