Friuli Venezia Giulia’s Civil Protection agency has issued a yellow weather alert for Thursday, Sept. 17, as a wave of severe weather is expected to bring strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to parts of the region.
The alert will remain in effect from midnight until 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
According to the agency, the greatest risk is along coastal and lowland areas, where thunderstorms may produce intense rainfall over short periods. Officials warned that the weather could cause localized flooding in smaller waterways and urban drainage systems, temporary road disruptions, and isolated landslides or slope instability.
Strong wind gusts are also expected during thunderstorms, and residents are advised to remain cautious while traveling and to monitor official weather updates throughout the day.
