Two vegetation fires were reported Wednesday afternoon in areas near Gorizia and Trieste, prompting responses from specialized wildfire crews from the local fire brigades.
At about 1:25 p.m., a forest-fire response team from the Gorizia fire brigade was dispatched to the Bonetti area, in the municipality of Doberdò del Lago, near State Road 55. Firefighters were working to contain the vegetation fire.
A separate fire was reported at around 2 p.m. near Provincial Road 27, the road connecting Trieste with Sežana. A forest-fire response team from the Trieste fire brigade was deployed to the area.
No further details were immediately available about the extent of the fires, possible damage or whether any evacuations had been ordered.
