The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has approved a €265,000 funding program for 2026 aimed at preserving and promoting the region’s German-speaking minority communities.
The initiative will support projects in the municipalities of Sappada, Sauris, Paluzza, Tarvisio, Malborghetto-Valbruna and Pontebba, with funding available to local governments, mountain communities and nonprofit organizations.
Individual projects may receive up to €15,000, while partnerships involving multiple organizations can qualify for grants of up to €40,000. The program is designed to encourage long-term initiatives rather than one-time events.
Eligible projects include language education, scientific research, museum and library development, and the production of editorial and multimedia content related to the region’s German-speaking heritage.
The funding also encourages cross-border cooperation with institutions in German-speaking parts of Europe and with other linguistic minority communities. Regional officials said the program reflects a broader commitment to preserving Friuli Venezia Giulia’s linguistic diversity while fostering cultural exchange within Europe.
