A technical inspection was carried out on Tuesday along a section of the Trieste–Lignano Sabbiadoro–Venice cycling route between Precenicco and Aprilia Marittima, as regional authorities reviewed progress on one of northeastern Italy’s key cycling infrastructure projects.

The visit focused on Lotto 2C of the FVG2 corridor, part of the broader coastal cycling network linking Trieste to Venice through the Friuli Venezia Giulia lagoon system. Officials described the route as a strategic axis for “slow tourism” and regional mobility.

The inspected stretch extends for more than 16 kilometers, running along embankments near the Stella River and the Marano Lagoon. It includes upgraded existing paths, newly built dedicated cycle lanes, traffic-calming measures, and improved links with surrounding municipal roads.

According to regional authorities, the project is integrated into Italy’s national cycle tourism system and connected to the EuroVelo 8 and EuroVelo 9 European cycling corridors. The intervention is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, with funding drawn from both EU recovery resources and regional allocations.

Officials confirmed that Lotto 2C has been completed, with construction finishing in late April after works began in 2025. Final steps are now underway, including technical testing and administrative procedures required for opening the route to the public. Once operational, the section will form part of a continuous coastal cycling link between northeastern Italy’s lagoon landscapes and the Adriatic corridor toward Venice.
