The long weekend of the Trieste Spring Run began on Thursday morning in Piazza Unità, where the children’s race, known as the Trieste Spring Young, opened the event with a focus on the city’s youngest runners.
The festivities are expected to draw athletes and visitors through Sunday, bringing a lively atmosphere to the city center. But alongside the celebrations, residents are likely to encounter disruptions. A municipal ordinance has introduced temporary traffic restrictions and road changes that will remain in place as needed throughout the weekend.
Thursday’s program also includes the official opening of the marathon hub at 3 p.m., which will serve as the central point for the event’s expo, race registrations and bib collection. The hub will remain open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
Interest in the races has been strong. The 21-kilometer race is already sold out, while registration remains open for the full marathon and the Family Run, the latter approaching 4,000 participants.
