Trieste will host the 26th edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival from Nov. 3 to 8, bringing more than 60 film premieres, international guests and a program exploring science fiction across cinema, literature, video games and emerging technologies.

The six-day festival will welcome directors and actors from around the world, alongside exhibitions, master classes, book presentations and activities designed for families.

Screenings and events will take place at three venues: the Politeama Rossetti, Cinema Ariston and the Sci-Fi Dome in Piazza della Borsa.

The festival will open with The Squirrell, described by organizers as a dystopian, environmental and surreal comedy. The closing film will be Bucking Fastard, the latest work by German filmmaker Werner Herzog, starring Kate and Rooney Mara.

This year’s program will also include a tribute to filmmaker Roger Corman, whose work helped shape American independent cinema and the science-fiction and horror genres.

Beyond its film screenings, the festival aims to examine how science fiction intersects with contemporary culture, technological change and society, offering audiences opportunities to explore both established and emerging forms of storytelling.

Now in its 26th year, the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival has become an annual gathering for science-fiction enthusiasts and filmmakers, bringing international productions and creative perspectives to the city.
