On Sunday, May 3, the Castello di San Giusto in Trieste will host the final two sessions of “Alla conquista del Castello,” a treasure hunt designed for children that blends play with historical exploration.
Scheduled at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., the 90-minute activity invites participants ages 6 to 11 to navigate the castle’s courtyards, ramparts and interior rooms through a series of guided challenges. Led by museum educators, the experience unfolds as a staged adventure, encouraging teamwork and observation while introducing elements of the site’s history, legends and architecture.
The program reflects a growing emphasis among Italian cultural institutions on interactive learning, particularly for younger audiences. By combining storytelling with movement through the fortress, organizers aim to transform a traditional museum visit into a more immersive encounter with the past.
The activity costs 10 euros per child, and admission to the castle is free for participants and accompanying adults. Children under 6 may attend only with an adult.
Reservations are required and can be made through CoopCulture (email: museicivici.trieste@coopculture.it), which collaborates on the initiative with the city’s civic museums.
