Passengers traveling through airports in Italy on Friday, Jan. 9, may experience disruptions as strikes by airport and airline staff are set to affect operations nationwide.

Ground staff at Milan’s Linate and Malpensa airports have called a 24-hour strike on Friday. Separately, a nationwide strike by airport staff is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Milan strikes involve employees of Airport Handling and Swissport Italia, while the national action includes workers from the airport handling services provider Assohandlers.

In addition, Italy-based pilots and cabin crew for British low-cost carrier easyJet plan a 24-hour strike on the same day. Staff at Spanish budget airline Vueling are scheduled to strike from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Travelers scheduled to fly with either airline through Italian airports are advised to check flight details in advance and arrive early to allow for possible delays.
