Visitors to Trieste’s Porto Vecchio – Porto Vivo area will have the opportunity to explore two of the city’s historic industrial sites through free guided tours this month. The tours, organized by the Trieste branch of Italia Nostra in collaboration with the city, highlight the Sottostazione Elettrica (Electrical Substation) and the Centrale Idrodinamica (Hydrodynamic Plant).
Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and requires prior reservation. Morning tours begin at 9:45 a.m., while afternoon visits start at 2:45 p.m. The meeting point for all tours is outside the Sottostazione Elettrica, located at Viale Miramare 24/4.
The scheduled dates for November 2025 are:
- Wednesday, November 5 – 9:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, November 12 – 9:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, November 19 – 9:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, November 26 – 9:30 a.m.
Reservations are required at least five days in advance and can be made by contacting Italia Nostra at trieste@italianostra.org.
Italia Nostra also offers the possibility of arranging tours for private groups on alternative dates and times, with bookings handled through the same email address. The initiative is part of a broader effort to preserve and promote Trieste’s cultural and industrial heritage.
