The City of Trieste awarded its Bronze Medal to mark the tenth edition of the city’s annual Blessing of the Animals, held this afternoon in Piazza Giuseppe Verdi. The honor was presented by Francesco Di Paola Panteca, president of the City Council, to event coordinator Fabio Rabak, in recognition of the initiative’s decade-long contribution to the community.
“I bring greetings from Mayor Roberto Dipiazza, as well as my own and those of the entire city administration, to this initiative, to which the Municipality of Trieste expresses its recognition for its commendable work,” said Panteca during the ceremony.
The presentation included the reading of the official citation accompanying the Bronze Medal, which reads:
“Blessing of the Animals — 10th Anniversary.
In recognition and appreciation for the significant milestone achieved by this meritorious initiative in support of our small but great friends, following in the footsteps of Saint Francis.”
Now in its tenth year, the Blessing of the Animals has become a cherished local tradition in Trieste, celebrating the bond between humans and animals while echoing the spirit of compassion and respect embodied by Saint Francis of Assisi.
