On Sunday, September 21, Villa Revoltella Park will host “Roller Day – Mobility on Skates,” a morning event dedicated to roller skating as part of the European Mobility Week. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., children, teenagers and adults will be invited to lace up skates and take part in activities designed to introduce participants to the sport.

The initiative, organized by A.S.D. Roller University in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste’s Department of Territorial Policies, combines movement, music and balance with an emphasis on accessibility. At mid-morning, athletes from Roller University will present a performance showcasing artistic skating. For those less inclined to step onto skates, a series of games and activities will be available, ensuring that visitors of all ages can take part.

European Mobility Week, which runs through September 22, is an annual campaign promoted across the continent to encourage sustainable and inclusive forms of transportation. The 2025 edition carries the theme “Mobility for All,” highlighting mobility as a right rather than a privilege, and underscoring the importance of cooperation between local governments, citizens and community associations in creating safer, more sustainable cities.

By framing roller skating as both sport and a form of movement in the city, Trieste’s Roller Day reflects the broader goals of the campaign: to reimagine urban mobility in ways that are environmentally responsible, socially inclusive and enjoyable.
