The 82nd Venice International Film Festival awarded its top prize, the Golden Lion, to Father Mother Sister Brother, directed by American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch. The anthology film, set across New Jersey, Dublin, and Paris, was praised by the jury for its understated style and emotional depth.

The Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize went to The Voice of Hind Rajab, directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, a docudrama that drew on the final phone calls of a young girl during the Gaza conflict and received one of the festival’s longest standing ovations.

Other major awards included Best Director for Benny Safdie (The Smashing Machine), Best Actress for Xin Zhilei (The Sun Rises on Us All), and Best Actor for Toni Servillo (La Grazia).

The festival, one of the world’s most influential cinema events, closed on Saturday after two weeks that highlighted both politically charged works and quiet, character-driven storytelling.
