Interview: Sergio Bini, FVG councilor for tourism

The summer season is off to a strong start in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with early indicators suggesting a promising tourist season, bolstered by favorable weather and a packed calendar of events.

“We’ve kicked off summer with a bang, from concerts to various events,” said Sergio Bini, the region’s Councilor for Tourism, in an interview with InTrieste. “The hot weather’s great for beach-goers and those seeking cooler mountain air alike.”

Bini noted that early data from the first weeks of the season points to positive trends across the region. “We’re seeing very, very promising numbers,” he said. “In short, we’re seeing positive projections across all locations.”

Among the highlights this week was the presentation of the Super Cup in Udine, one of several major events designed to attract visitors. “We’re enjoying a packed schedule of both musical and sporting events,” Bini added, crediting targeted media promotion for drawing national and international attention.

With tourism figures already strong in 2024, officials are optimistic that Friuli Venezia Giulia will continue to grow in popularity as a destination well into the year and beyond.
