Beginning July 1, residents and professionals in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will be required to use online payments for a wide range of vehicle-related administrative services, as the Portale dell’Automobilista (Driver’s Portal) becomes fully operational.
The announcement was made by Cristina Amirante, the Regional Councillor for Infrastructure and Territory, who described the launch as a “decisive step toward innovation and simplification” of public services tied to the Civil Motorization office.
The portal, which had previously only allowed limited functions, now offers a comprehensive suite of online services. Users will be able to handle administrative procedures remotely, including mandatory digital payments for services once handled in person. According to regional authorities, the new system is designed to be straightforward, secure, and transparent.
Revenue from the portal will go directly to the region and will be reinvested in strengthening the Civil Motorization services. Officials say this will improve overall efficiency and responsiveness, benefiting both private citizens and professional operators such as driving schools and vehicle registration agencies.
To prepare for the transition, a targeted public awareness campaign was conducted in the week leading up to the platform’s full implementation. Authorities stated that users who had pre-booked services for the coming months would receive support to navigate the new system smoothly.
The initiative is part of a broader digital transformation effort aimed at modernizing public administration across Italy.
