Opening night features award ceremony, masterclass, and screenings of ultra-short films
The 26th edition of the ShorTS International Film Festival opens on Saturday evening in Trieste, ushering in a week of global short film making with a program that blends emerging talent, experimentation, and cinematic diversity.
The festival begins at 7:00 p.m. at Teatro Miela with the presentation of the Prospettiva Award to actor Francesco Gheghi. Known for his early artistic maturity and versatility, Gheghi will participate in a live masterclass led by festival director Maurizio di Rienzo. The session will be followed by the screening of La buona condotta, Gheghi’s directorial debut. The short film recently earned the Best First Work prize at the 2025 Nastri d’Argento Awards.
Later in the evening, at 9:15 p.m., audiences will gather at the Giardino Pubblico for the ShorTS Express showcase. The open-air event will feature 21 films, each under five minutes in length, representing a wide range of international perspectives. The selection spans genres from experimental cinema and animation to musical documentaries.
The festival runs through July 5, continuing its tradition of spotlighting innovation and new voices in short-form storytelling.
