A new regional initiative in Friuli Venezia Giulia is aiming to connect job seekers with opportunities in the public transport sector. The effort includes a Recruiting Day scheduled for June 10 in Udine and the presentation of two new funding calls to support individuals in obtaining the Carta di Qualificazione del Conducente (CQC), a mandatory qualification for professional drivers in Italy.
“This new recruiting day aims to foster connections between job supply and demand, while also supporting professionals who may find employment in our local public transport sector,” said Alessia Rosolen, the region’s Councillor for Labor, Training, and Education. “These two new CQC calls are part of what makes our model in Friuli Venezia Giulia unique on a national level.”
Rosolen spoke at a press conference held at the regional government’s headquarters in Udine, where details of the upcoming Recruiting Day TPL were shared. The event will take place at Palazzo Antonini Belgrado in Piazza Patriarcato 3 and is organized in collaboration with the region’s four public transport companies:
- Arriva Udine (Udine)
- Atap (Pordenone)
- Azienda Provinciale Trasporti – Apt (Gorizia)
- Trieste Trasporti (Trieste)
“Today’s labor market is undergoing significant changes,” Rosolen noted. “Company requirements, worker profiles, and customer expectations are all evolving. Innovative training systems such as vocational education (IFP) and higher technological institutes (ITS) are helping develop qualified professionals in automation, digitalization, and logistics.”
Public transport companies are currently seeking to fill 70 positions, including urban and interurban bus drivers and vehicle maintenance technicians. In addition to certified drivers, the companies are open to interviewing applicants who aspire to become drivers but do not yet have the necessary qualifications.
Basic requirements for driver applicants include a middle school diploma, a valid D-class driving license with a CQC for passenger transport, Italian language proficiency, familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, and preferably some basic knowledge of English. For vehicle technicians, expertise in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles—especially in mechanics, mechatronics, or electronics—is sought.
Interested candidates who do not yet hold the required licenses can still apply as aspiring drivers and schedule an initial interview. These applicants may be eligible for a regional expense contribution to support the cost of obtaining the CQC.
To apply, candidates must submit their CVs by Tuesday, June 3, following the instructions available at ibit.ly/T9ERE.
The regional government is also offering financial aid again in 2025 for unemployed and job-seeking individuals to attend CQC training courses. Applications for these contributions can be submitted online. Priority will be given to those who are currently unemployed or seeking work.
More information about the contribution programs and eligibility requirements is available at the official regional website.
