Continuing their series of Chamber Music Paths, the Tartini Conservatory’s 2024 Concerts, in collaboration with the Circle of Culture and Arts of Trieste, present an upcoming event curated by production manager Luca Trabucco and Conservatory director Sandro Torlontano. Set for Tuesday, February 20th, at 8:30 PM in the iconic Tartini Hall on via Ghega in Trieste, this installment features “The Planets” performed by the En Blanc Et Noir Duo, comprising pianists Matteo Di Bella and Lorenzo Ritacco, accompanied by video artist Lorenzo Bosich. Admission is free, though seats are limited, so reservations are recommended (tel 040 6724911).
The evening’s program promises a celestial journey with Gustav Holst’s The Planets op.32 and Circumnavigator by Carter Pann. Holst’s masterpiece, composed between 1914 and 1916, depicts the planets of our solar system through a cosmic lens, drawing inspiration from both astrology and cosmology. From the martial fervor of Mars to the ethereal beauty of Venus, and the regal splendor of Jupiter, each movement offers a unique perspective on our celestial neighbors. The performance culminates in a mesmerizing loop, echoing the infinite vastness of space.
The En Blanc Et Noir Duo, founded in 2017 by Matteo Di Bella and Lorenzo Ritacco, brings together two exceptional pianists with a shared passion for exploring the breadth of musical expression. With a repertoire spanning three centuries, they specialize in uncovering hidden gems while honoring classical masterpieces. Named after Claude Debussy’s evocative composition, En Blanc Et Noir embodies the duo’s commitment to artistic fusion and innovation.
Matteo Di Bella, hailed as a prodigious talent from a young age, has garnered acclaim for his virtuosic interpretations of Romantic repertoire. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Ritacco, equally accomplished as a pianist and composer, pushes the boundaries of contemporary music with his experimental compositions and improvisations.
Adding a visual dimension to the performance is Lorenzo Bosich, a rising talent in the realm of audiovisual art. With a background in both classical music and electronic soundscapes, Bosich’s immersive visuals enhance the audience’s experience, inviting them to embark on a multisensory journey through sound and light.
Together, these talented artists promise an unforgettable evening of music and artistry, inviting audiences to explore the cosmos through the universal language of music.
