Firefighters in Friuli Venezia Giulia responded to 36 separate fire incidents overnight, most of them concentrated in the Friuli part of the region, according to local emergency services. None of the blazes was reported to pose a serious threat to public safety.
Many of the calls involved small but disruptive fires in urban areas, particularly burning trash containers, a recurring problem during hot and dry conditions. Crews were able to bring these under control quickly, preventing damage to nearby buildings.
The most demanding operation took place in Forgaria, a town in the province of Udine, where a fire broke out on the roof of a holiday home. Firefighters worked through the night to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to the rest of the structure.
Several wildfires were also reported in wooded areas. The largest erupted on Mount Quarnan, in a steep and difficult-to-reach zone, prompting authorities to request the support of a Civil Protection helicopter to assist ground crews in extinguishing the blaze.
Officials said the situation was closely monitored throughout the night, with emergency teams remaining on alert as dry conditions continue to increase the risk of further outbreaks.
