Massimiliano Fedriga, governor of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, stressed the importance of regional partnerships in strengthening transatlantic ties before boarding U.S. Ambassador Tilman Fertitta’s yacht on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Fedriga said that relationships between regions help ensure long-term cooperation beyond changes in national governments. He described the alliance between Italy and the United States as particularly significant at a time of international uncertainty, adding that collaboration is reinforced through business, cultural exchanges and tourism.
Fedriga also pointed to the partnership agreement between Friuli Venezia Giulia and the U.S. state of Virginia as an example of how regional cooperation can support broader ties between the two countries.
