Graduates of the University of Trieste are entering the workforce at rates above both regional and national averages, according to new data released in the 27th annual AlmaLaurea report, which tracks the educational and professional outcomes of university graduates across Italy.

The report, published on Thursday, analyzed the performance of more than 335,000 graduates from 81 Italian universities who completed their studies in 2025, including 3,326 graduates from the University of Trieste.

Among graduates holding master’s degrees, employment levels five years after graduation reached 97.3 percent, exceeding both the average for the Friuli Venezia Giulia region (96.5 percent) and the national average (94.4 percent). The average monthly salary for these graduates was €2,023, compared with €1,977 regionally and €1,903 nationally.

The findings mark a notable increase from the previous year, when employment among the university’s master’s graduates stood at 93 percent.

The report also highlighted the university’s ability to attract students from outside the region. Nearly half — 47 percent — of students enrolled in master’s programs came from other parts of Italy, significantly higher than the national average of less than 30 percent. International students accounted for 6.7 percent of enrollment, up nearly one percentage point from the previous year.

Participation in international study programs also increased. The share of master’s graduates who completed a study-abroad experience recognized within their degree program rose to 16.1 percent, compared with 13 percent a year earlier.

Bachelor’s degree graduates also recorded favorable outcomes. One year after graduation, 87 percent of those who did not continue their studies were employed, up from 84.8 percent the previous year. The figure exceeds both the national average of 81.2 percent and the regional average of 85.4 percent.

Average monthly earnings for employed bachelor’s graduates reached €1,543, compared with a national average of €1,491.

Student satisfaction levels remained high across several indicators. According to the report, 89 percent of graduates expressed overall satisfaction with their university experience. Positive evaluations were also recorded for relationships with faculty members (87 percent), workload balance (83 percent), and academic facilities and services (86.5 percent).

The University of Trieste graduates included in the survey comprised 1,917 bachelor’s degree recipients, 1,026 graduates from two-year master’s programs, and 383 graduates from single-cycle degree programs.

University officials pointed to ongoing efforts aimed at supporting students’ transition into the labor market. Through its Career Service, the institution offers career guidance, placement assistance and professional development opportunities for students, graduates and doctoral candidates, with the goal of shortening the time between graduation and employment.
