interview: Adam Bank, spokesperson for the Comitato No Imec

On 11 June 2026, the Comitato No IMEC (Committee Against the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor) held a press conference in Piazza Unità d’Italia to present a letter to Marco Corsini.

In the letter, the Committee “examines the political and military considerations influencing the development of the Port of Trieste,” arguing that “the IMEC trade route is a political project integrated into American, Israeli, and European war strategies.”

Adam Bank, spokesperson for the Comitato No IMEC, argued that, in light of Annex VIII of the Paris Peace Treaty of 10 February 1947, which established the Instrument for the Free Port of Trieste, and Annex VI of the same treaty, which established the Permanent Statute for the Free Territory of Trieste (FTT), the Port of Trieste is undergoing politicisation and militarisation in connection with the IMEC trade route project.

A similar letter was previously presented to Vittorio Alberto Torbianelli, then Special Commissioner of the Port Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, in autumn 2024.
