Friuli Venezia Giulia councilor for environment, Fabio Scoccimarro, this week presented a package of amendments to region’s 2026 multisector budget bill, outlining measures aimed at reducing bureaucracy, supporting local businesses and advancing the region’s environmental and energy goals.

Approved by the regional council as part of Bill 79, the measures include simplified procedures for sports associations and organizers of festivals and local fairs. Under the “EcoEventiFVG” initiative, funding for sustainable events will move from a ranked application system to a reimbursement-based process intended to speed up access to contributions.

The region also announced a new call for microbusinesses in the restaurant sector, offering up to €5,000 for investments that reduce single-use plastics and encourage the sterilization and reuse of glass containers. The scheme will reimburse expenses already incurred by businesses.

Among the measures is compensation for boat owners affected by delays at Trieste’s Barcola marina, where the discovery of 17 unexploded World War II devices halted dredging and redevelopment works. Regional authorities said reimbursements would help cover the additional costs of alternative mooring and storage arrangements.

The amendments also extend the region’s “stove incentive” program, which supports the replacement of older biomass heating systems with lower-emission models and high-efficiency heat pumps. Eligible expenses will now include purchases made within the 12 months preceding an application, with contributions of up to €4,000 available.

Additional funding will support the organization of “Pordenone Sustainability Week 2026” in Pordenone and initiatives tied to the UNESCO-recognized International Day of Caves and Karst on Sept. 13, including free access to tourist caves and educational programs for schools.

Scoccimarro also confirmed further steps toward establishing the region’s renewable energy community as a participation foundation. The region allocated €20,000 for its founding membership share and €150,000 for the management of the new entity, which officials say will play a strategic role in the energy transition and support for households.
