The City of Trieste has completed a €327,486 renovation of Anita Pittoni Primary School, restoring the building ahead of the new academic year after months of structural repairs.

The project addressed longstanding maintenance issues caused by roof deterioration, including water infiltration that damaged classrooms, walls and interior finishes. Workers also repaired sections of the façade, replaced the school’s main entrance windows with more energy-efficient units and removed asbestos-containing materials found in part of the building.

City officials said the renovation was part of a broader summer program of urgent school maintenance across Trieste, with approximately €1.5 million invested in educational facilities. An additional €3 million has been secured for the future renovation of the Fonda Savio school within the same comprehensive institute.

Principal Monica De Carolis welcomed the completion of the works, saying the school had been returned on schedule and would offer students a safer and more welcoming learning environment.

The renovation was financed through regional funding and municipal resources.
