At the opening of the London Wine Fair, Britain’s leading wine trade event, the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia sought to strengthen its presence in the British market with a showcase centered on the theme “Connections of Excellence.”

Eight wineries from the region are participating in the Italian pavilion, presenting a selection of wines alongside regional specialties including cured meats, frico — a traditional cheese and potato dish — and distilled spirits. The delegation also includes the president of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, and the regional agriculture councillor, Stefano Zannier.

Regional officials described the fair as an opportunity to expand ties with what they called one of the most strategic export markets for local producers. According to figures cited by Mr. Fedriga, exports of wines from Friuli Venezia Giulia to Britain have risen by 8.8 percent, approaching a total value of €250 million.

Mr. Zannier noted that the region’s white wines, long associated with Friuli Venezia Giulia’s wine-making tradition, continue to hold a strong reputation in the British market, particularly for quality.
