A team of Italian pastry chefs, led in large part by professionals from Friuli Venezia Giulia, set a new Guinness World Record for the world’s longest tiramisu last Sunday, creating a dessert that stretched 440 meters and 58 centimeters through the British capital.

The record-breaking confection was assembled by more than 100 people, including 20 pastry chefs from Friuli Venezia Giulia alongside numerous Italian professionals working in the United Kingdom. Together, they used thousands of ingredients and more than 152,000 ladyfingers to complete the ambitious undertaking.

At the center of the initiative was Mirko Ricci, an entrepreneur from Gemona del Friuli, who organized the event and received the official Guinness World Record certificate in London.

The achievement highlighted not only Italian culinary craftsmanship but also the strong contribution of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s pastry tradition, with chefs from the region playing a central role in bringing the project to life.

Organizers said the event also carried a charitable purpose: proceeds from the distribution of the tiramisù will be donated to an organization involved in humanitarian and educational projects.

The initiative was promoted by Etica del Gusto, which praised the pastry chefs involved as ambassadors of Italian taste and craft skills abroad. For many in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the record represents both a point of regional pride and an example of how local excellence can gain international recognition.
